SECURE HISTORIC GRAND SLAM!
(23 Mar 2009)
Irish rugby is the toast of the Northern Hemisphere after finally landing the Grand Slam for the first time since 1948. The last gasp 17-15 victory over Wales in Cardiff sent the country into raptures and was just reward for the tremendous efforts of this exceptional squad. PLATINUM ONE trio Gordon D’Arcy, Luke Fitzgerald and Jamie Heaslip contributed hugely to the success, scoring five tries between them, with D’Arcy scoring in the home victory over France, Fitzgerald bagging two tries in the win against Italy in Rome and Heaslip crossing for tries against France and, in Murrayfield against Scotland.
All three players now head into the final stretch of the season with Magners League and Heineken Cup honours at stake.
