Erne Challenge

PLATINUM ONE has had the good fortune to work with one of the most spectacular golf resorts in Europe over the past 3 years. The Lough Erne Golf Resort in Co Fermanagh with its two golf courses and AA5 Star Hotel will quickly become recognised as one of the most stunning places in the world to stay, play golf and fish. At its heart is a magnificent new Nick Faldo designed 18 hole championship golf course set on the shores of the spectacular Fermanagh Lakelands. In order to quickly bring the special qualities of the resort to international attention PLATINUM ONE was asked to establish an event that would make an impact on the international and national golf tourist.
PLATINUM ONE created, promoted and managed the inaugural Lough Erne Challenge which featured Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington competing in a stroke play format in front of 6,000 spectators on July 22nd 2009. More than 50 golf press were on hand from Ireland, Britain, Europe, the United States and the Middle East. Resort owner, Jim Treacy, said he was delighted with the first staging of the event and complimented PLATINUM ONE for its creativity and work in establishing a quality event that had delivered such strong national and international interest.
The event, billed “The Duel on the Lough” was filmed by Tour Productions and will be broadcast in at least 15 countries worldwide including Sky Sports on (July 28th) and on BBC television and The Golf Channel in the United States.
