EUROSTARS SET TO LIGHT UP SCOTLAND
Puyol, Iniesta and Xavi lined up for battle against Hibs’ and Arabs


On Sunday night, Spain rewrote the history books by winning the European Championships for the first time in 44 years by defeating Germany 1-0. The FC Barcelona trio of Carles Puyol, Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez - who was named as the official Euro 2008 Player of the Tournament – were hugely instrumental in their country’s success.

Spain’s victory is not only great news for the millions of Spanish football fans throughout the continent, but also for Scottish football fans eagerly anticipating the return of the Catalan superstars to Scotland.

FC Barcelona players will arrive in St. Andrews later this month to prepare for the club’s 2008/09 assault on La Liga and Champions League.

The successful Spanish trio will link up with the rest of FC Barcelona’s star studded squad which will include Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry and Bojan Krkić for the one week stay at St Andrews, Fife. ‘The Blaugrana’ will play two fixtures during their stay- against Hibernian FC at Murrayfield Stadium, on 24th July at 19:45 and Dundee United FC at Tannadice Stadium, on 26th July at 16:00 – a prospect sure to moisten the appetite of every native football fan keen to sample the world-class football on offer.
