In just 3 days PLATINUM ONE organised and managed two of the biggest sporting events of the Irish summer and the world’s press was on hand to record both!

On Monday July 20th, Christiano Ronaldo and his Real Madrid colleagues played in a PLATINUM ONE match against Shamrock Rovers at the Tallaght Stadium in West Dublin in front of 11,000 fans and a live television audience in Ireland, Spain and Britain. It was Ronaldo’s debut for Madrid and came a week into the club’s ten day training camp at Carton House in Co. Kildare. The world’s football media was in attendance and the coverage received was hugely positive for Ireland and particularly for the Tallaght area. The organisation of the match was a major logistical challenge as the normal capacity of the stadium of 3,000 had to be extended by the construction of 7,500 temporary seats. On a nice warm and dry evening all those who attended the game had an enjoyable experience and the Madrid squad, coaches and officials were delighted that the match, along with the organisation of the whole training camp, had proven them right to choose Ireland for this important part of their pre-season programme. The club had travelled with 40 members of the Spanish press and this group was augmented by a further 60 members of the Irish British and international football media.

Two days later, PLATINUM ONE organised the inaugural Lough Erne Challenge at the Lough Erne Golf Resort in Co. Fermanagh. The resort is a magnificent new Faldo designed 18 hole championship golf course set on the shores the lake that is set to fast become one of the greatest golf courses in Europe already rivalling Loch Lomond for its natural beauty. PLATINUM ONE created, promoted and managed the inaugural Lough Erne Challenge which featured Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington competing in a stroke play format in front of 6,000 spectators. More than 50 golf press were on hand from Ireland, Britain, Europe, the United States and the Middle East. Resort owner, Jim Treacy, said he was delighted with the first staging of the event and complimented PLATINUM ONE for its creativity and work in establishing a quality event that had delivered national and international interest.

The event, billed “The Duel on the Lough” was filmed by Tour Productions and will be broadcast in at least 15 countries worldwide starting with Sky Sports on Tuesday July 28th, the following week on BBC television and on the Golf Channel in the United States.
