THE LOUGH ERNE CHALLENGE

Rory McIlroy is offering a unique experience to a member of the public at the Lough Erne Challenge. The eagerly anticipated “Duel on the Lough” will see McIlroy take on three time major champion Padraig Harrington on the newly opened Faldo Course at Lough Erne Golf Resort in Enniskillen. The package, which will be auctioned on Rory’s website (www.rorymcilroy.com) will include tickets to the Lough Erne Challenge plus a round of golf with Rory at the resort on Thursday 23rd of July. All proceeds from the auction will go towards a fund that has been set up to assist a child from his hometown of Holywood, Co Down, who suffers from severe epilepsy. Carter Buchanan, the three-year-old son of Robert, a greenkeeper at Holywood GC, McIlroy’s home course, developed epilepsy as a baby when he had up to 20 seizures a day.



“They have to take him over to Chicago to get treatment, maybe six or seven times a year,” said McIlroy. “It costs them a lot of money but they’ve got his seizures down to one or two times a day, which is great. They just want him to try and lead a normal life. I’ve known Robert for a long time so anything I could do to help his child, I would.”
