Villarreal C.F. Confirmed for Ireland
One of the leading clubs in La Liga, Villarreal C.F., has today (July 6th) confirmed that the club has appointed PLATINUM ONE as its Official Pre-Season Partner and that its senior team will travel to Ireland for its pre-season training camp this summer. The club will arrive in Ireland on July 22nd and will be located at Carton House, Maynooth, Co. Kildare until July 28th. As part of its preparation for the forthcoming season Villarreal will play two friendly matches during their stay in Ireland.
The first of the two games will take place on Saturday 24th July 2010 at 7pm when (subject to sanction) PLATINUM ONE will promote a game between Athlone Town F.C and Villarreal C.F. Details of ticket outlets are available online at www.platinumonegroup.com and www.athlonetownfc.ie
Details of Villarreal’s second game in Ireland will be announced in due course by PLATINUM ONE.
Announcing the decision Chairman Fernando Roig Alfonso said that the club believed the conditions for the pre-season training camp should be perfect.

Commenting on the game versus Athlone Town, Villarreal Manager Juan Carlos Garrido had the following to say:
"Our match against Athlone Town will be the first match of our busy pre-season schedule. It is a very important match for my squad and I aim to bring my strongest possible team to Athlone for what it sure to be a difficult assignment. We saw last summer with Shamrock Rovers' performance against Real Madrid just how competitive Irish sides can be so we must prepare for what will be a stern test of my squad. I am sure it will be a great spectacle for all the fans ".

This is the fourth consecutive year that Dublin-based PLATINUM ONE has managed the pre-season “Stage”, or training camp, of a top Spanish club. In 2007 the company was appointed ‘Official Pre-season Partner’ of FC Barcelona and took the then UEFA Cup Champions, Sevilla, on tour to the United States. In 2008 it was re-appointed by FC Barcelona before taking on the same role for Real Madrid CF in 2009 when they were also hosted at Carton House.
